A Psychedelic Guide To...

...Monsterism Island
This turned up at Resonance a couple of weeks back, so I thought I'd play it out on BPM. Welsh Visual Artist, Pete Fowler presents - A Psychedelic Guide to Monsterism Island, the CD contains original compositions from some of the underground's most intrepid explorers, namely Richard Norris, Gruff Rhys, Jerry Dammers, Luke Vibert, Cherrystones etc etc.
The album is out March 16 on Lo Recordings. I thought it rude to pop the whole thing up, so here's a track by Richie Crago.
Richie Crago - Wandering Black Holes
Enjoy!

Dirty Interview in English

Due to both parties being busy during the Christmas period, here's the Dirty interview with Guillaume Sorge in English as promised. I've also added the show from the 17 Dec if anyone wants to have another listen.
Guillaume is part of Parisian duo, Dirty Sound System who not only djclubs/bars/parties, but they're also an umbrella for the record label DIRTY and the website ALAINFINKIELKRAUTROCK. How and when did it all come about?
we met around ten years ago while working for the same TV company in france, as we shared the same vision on culture and especially music we decided to keep on working together... we released 6 compilations and several vinyl releases since then...
What's the dirty process when it comes to edits? Who sources the
tracks, and how ( ie record shopping)? And who edits? You've just
released Dirty Edits Vol 2 on cd, and it's the last in the series. Is
that it for the edits? Or will you continue the edits under a
different theme?
the sources are various : our own record collections, crate digging, advice from friends... we (dirty sound system) mainly choose the tracks and have them edited by pilooski. we release them when we're happy with the result. we've released around 10 vinyl records and 2 compilations so we feel that it's the right time to stop as we don"t wanna get trapped in any kind of formula. pilooski might keep on releasing edits on other labels... and we're gonna focus on some other projects : discodeine and our new compilation which will be dedicated to french pyschedelic pop from the seventies (out in may).
As well as a wonderfully broad array of re -edits, dirty have recently
started releasing original material, (Discodeine and Photonz). Was
this a natural progression for the label? How do the artists fit the
ethos of dirty? Have you got any new artists to be released on the
label? The new Discodeine comes out in Jan, will there be an album to follow?
we don't have a particular release schedule, we just release music that excites us when we feel like doing it. we work on the third discodeine EP and of course an album... one of our model label is sarah records, for the hand crafted aesthetic (we number most of our vinyl releases by hand)... we release small quantity of records and we never repress. we like the idea to release music for people who care, not only for people who collect zshare files.
In reference to the blog. Why Alain Finkiel?
the name is a silly joke between french thinker alain finkielkraut (french thinker) and the krautrock music style.... we love alain finkielkraut's sense of humour and we love the german repetitive rock scene from the seventies too.
Are the DIRTY SOUND SYSTEM duo coming back to the UK anytime soon? Finally what's been your highlight of the year?
we played UK a lot this year and some of the parties were real highlights (manchester 1 month ago). no future gigs planned at the moment but we'd love to come back!
